Organization profile

Organization profile

The Department of Psychology is responsible for developing and consolidating research and teaching the discipline in its different areas of application. It develops its teaching and research functions in all careers with curricula that include psychology-related subjects. Its main developments refer to clinical and health psychology. This involves the development of the foundations, scientific knowledge, and techniques of evaluation and intervention relevant to the processes of psychological health and disease at different levels and contexts of expression. In addition, it deals with mental disorders and dysfunctionality at the individual and/or family level and the processes associated with the health and well-being of individuals and families. Its main topics are assessment and diagnosis, counseling, treatment, prevention, and research. The areas of knowledge included in the department are personality and individual differences, psychological assessment, psychological interventions, family functioning, and health and well-being (mental health promotion and prevention). Currently, the department's work is mainly focused on research-related functions. However, given the intrinsic link between a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and the training of psychotherapists, the professors of the department develop many teaching and outreach tasks.
