Personal profile

A Basque immigrant to Uruguay in 2017, I completed my Ph.D. in Psychology at the Complutense University of Madrid with a thesis entitled "Relative age in the educational field: An analysis of its relationship with academic performance and social adjustment in the classroom." I am currently a member of the National System of Researchers of Uruguay at the initiation level. I am a research professor at the Faculty of Education of the Catholic University of Uruguay (UCU).

Research interests

My current research in education has three main lines of inquiry. The first line focuses on the effects of relative age on academic achievement and social adjustment, examining how age differences among students in the same class affect their achievement and social adjustment. The second line focuses on computational thinking in education, which aims to prepare students for a technological future by developing competencies in solving problems using programming logic. The third line studies education through the use of open databases, using public data to analyze and improve educational processes. This approach facilitates a deeper understanding of the factors that influence education and supports informed decision-making to improve the quality of education worldwide.
