She holds a PhD in Classical Literature from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and is a member (level I) of the National System of Researchers of the ANII of Uruguay. She is a full-time research professor in the Department of Humanities and Communication at the Catholic University of Uruguay (UCU). She has been a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the UNAM, and a full-time researcher at the Center for Classical Studies of the Institute of Philological Research of the same university. He has published several specialized articles, popular articles and book chapters on food studies and cultural heritage. She is the author Alimentación, salud y cultura en De re coquinaria de Apicio (México, UNAM, 2018), and co author of Paisajes sensoriales: un patrimonio cultural de los sentidos, México-Uruguay (Montevideo-México, UCU-UNAM, 2020). He has given courses, lectures and conferences at universities in Uruguay, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Spain and Germany. In the field of academic writing, she has given workshops and courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as training teachers and researchers, in national and foreign institutions.

Research interests

She has specialized in the studies of Food in Ancient Rome, especially from technical writings such as the recipe book De re coquinaria and agronomic manuals, but also from the literary works of Martial, Juvenal and Petronius. She has also been interested in Latin technical literature and in the technical vocabulary of the culinary art. She also researches heritage issues and cultural landscapes related to food.
