Research interests

My research interests examine adolescent´s development. My interests are quite broad, but my research has focused on risk behaviors during this stage: suicide, self-harm behaviors, violence and drug use. At a theoretical level, I am interested in developmental psychopathology and risk and protective factors models. At a practical level, I am interested in studying evidence-based clinical assessments and interventions designed to promote a better mental health in adolescents.

Personal profile

In 2023, I obtained my PhD. degree from the Catholic University of Uruguay (UCU). I have been teaching classes for undergraduate and postgraduate students at the UCU since 2016. In 2022 I was awarded the International Award for Research on Adolescence and Youth “MARIA MIRANDA LOZANO" (Peru). Since 2020 I have been a member of the Group of Experts on Suicide for the Ministry of Public Health (MSP). I am the author of the Guide for Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk in Adolescents (MSP). I have been consultant for UNICEF and the IDB on projects related to adolescence and deprivation of liberty, and adolescence and suicide. I am currently the Human Behavior Minor director (UCU). I also represent the Department of Psychology on the Ethics Committee (UCU). In May 2023, I became a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) at the initiation level.
