Research interests

My research is inscribed in the intersection of social studies in science and technology (STS) and institutionalism, predominantly sociological, but also historical. The main object of study is the governance mechanisms of general purpose technologies such as the Internet and AI, particularly in Latin America and their dialogue, and tensions, with technological globalization that is neither homogeneous nor just. My work investigates how actors and institutions deploy norms, values, meaning around phenomena that emerge primarily in the North, but are then adopted in local contexts and with specific forms, such as technical standards, coordination organizations and those that develop policies (both in the public and private sector), and specific infrastructures that provide a materiality to these technologies.
