My research focuses on the political economy of redistribution and inequality. I am interested in the study of comparative capitalisms, education & skills formation, crime and welfare, and the dynamics of distribution. I teach courses on political economy, statistics and research design.

I am Professor of Political Science and Dean of the Graduate School at Universidad Católica del Uruguay (UCU). Co-Director of the Lab on Public Opinion and Social Media (LOPReS). I am author of "Empowering Labor? Leftist Approaches to Wage Policy in Unequal Democracies (2024, Cambridge University Press), and "Twittarquía: la política de las redes en Uruguay" (2019, Universidad Católica Press/Taurus). I have been a research fellow at the Universidade de Lisboa, Universidad Mayor de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. I am Founding Chair of the Department of Social and Political Sciences at UCU (2012-16) and member of the National Research System at ANII (Level II). I obtained my Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2012). I currently serve as Chair of the REPAL (Red para el Estudio de la Economía Política en América Latina) Steering Committee.
