Personal profile

Studied Psychology in Uruguay, with postgraduate courses in Psychology and university education. I obtained my Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Murcia, Spain, in 2005. I have taught at undergraduate, postgraduate, masters, and doctoral levels in Psychology, Education, and Health. I was the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology for two terms, institute director, research director, editorial board director of the Journal of Psychological Sciences, and head of the Publications Centre at the Catholic University of Uruguay. Currently, I supervise doctoral thesis and participate in the International Metacognition Group with 12 other universities from Latin America and the Caribbean, and North America. I am a permanent guest lecturer at the University of Buenos Aires for the Master's program and evaluate research projects for various universities in Uruguay, Latin America, and Europe. I coordinate Dissemination Seminars for individuals over 60 on the topic of Subjective Psychological Well-being. I advise on various fields of instrumental development and evidence. I am part of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Psychological Sciences and served as president of the Uruguayan Association of Academic Journals. I collaborate on joint research projects in the field of Psychological Well-being with universities in the region and Evidence-Based Psychology. I am also part of the team developing the Adult Self-Report - forthcoming publication - which complements an assessment system initiated with the already published Adolescent Self-Report. Accredited in the National system of researchers.

Research interests

The major dedication in their academic life has three main anchors: training in psychology seeking to balance the innovative with the paths already well traveled in this area of science, with emphasis on the best methodologies to support the actions of the professional in the area in any field that choose. Another anchor refers to the necessary presence of Psychopathology in the field of Mental Health, based on the development of evaluation systems based on evidence and that can be accessible to professionals who work in health and educational systems. The third pillar refers to incorporating the study of Well-being in the daily view of Psychology, thus attending to Protective Factors. In these areas he has developed Evaluation Protocols and programmatic proposals at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, while exploring methodologies that make it possible to obtain better quality evidence.
