Research interests

Her research is focused on studying the political economy processes that explain the development of social policies, with special attention to political processes and the development of the welfare state in Latin America. She also studies the politics behind public policies, the relationship between citizens and public policies, and social protection, well-being, vulnerability, and inequality, focusing on Latin America.

She is a Sociologist and PhD in Government and Public Administration from the Ortega y Gasset Institute/Complutense University of Madrid. She is a Professor in the Department of Social Sciences of the Catholic University of Uruguay and Level II Researcher of the National System of Researchers (ANII-SNI). She has been an independent consultant for different public and international organisations, such as ECLAC, IDB, World Bank, ILO, UN-DESA, UNDP, UNICEF, MIDES, OPP. She directed the degrees in Sociology, Political Science and Social Work at UCU (2013-2015 and 2019-2020) and coordinated the Winter School in Methods and Data Analysis (2016-2018) at the Department of Social Sciences at UCU. She currently serves as Vice-President for Research in Innovation at UCU.
