Personal profile

Research interests

Her research interests focus on the development of psychological interventions in childhood and disability. Specifically in the functional analysis of perspective-taking skills in neurotypical development and its implications in the field of developmental disorders. Perspective taking has been defined as the cognitive ability to assume the perspective of another individual, to infer thoughts, emotions and motivations. It is understood that perspective-taking skills are critical for effective social interactions and that, therefore, the deficits in social interaction skills present in some people, such as those diagnosed with autism or intellectual disability, could be explained by deficits in these skills. Montoya-Rodríguez researches the design of effective teaching protocols that allow establishing these skills in populations with difficulties, in order to create behavioral patterns that facilitate psychological flexibility, autonomy and quality of life.
