She holds a PhD in political science from the University of Pittsburgh. She has a degree in political science from Universidad Católica del Uruguay and a degree in sociology from Universidad de la República. She is Full Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at Universidad Católica del Uruguay. Since 2023 she is also chair of the Department of Social Sciences. In the 2022-2023 period she was president of AUCiP (Asociación Uruguaya de Ciencia Política).

Research interests

Her research activity is concentrated in three topics. First, electoral behavior and the factors that influence the vote of Latin Americans, in particular the relevance of class voting versus economic voting in Latin America. Second, public opinion and public policy preferences of citizens in Uruguay and in the region. Third, drug policies, specifically the impact of cannabis legalizations on the decriminalization and stigmatization of users, illegal markets, and public health.
