She obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the Catholic University of Uruguay, and in 2014, she completed her Ph.D. in Psychology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Since then, she has worked as a researcher and professor at both the undergraduate and master levels, specializing in areas related to psychological processes, emotions, social cognition, and substance use. Her experience includes serving as the coordinator of the common cycle of bachelor’s degrees in psychology, Psychopedagogy, Speech Therapy, and Psychomotricity at the Catholic University of Uruguay. Additionally, she held the position of director of the Ph.D. program in Psychology at the same university. Currently, she serves as the co-director of the Substance Use Diploma at the Catholic University of Uruguay. Furthermore, she is a member of Uruguay's national researchers’ system.

Research interests

Her research interests focus on exploring emotional and social cognition processes from a perspective that incorporates contributions from neuropsychology and neuroscience. Her approach encompasses both the typical development of these processes and their potential alterations, along with their connection to mental health issues. Specifically, she has devoted her attention to understanding their impact associated with substance use. Her interest lies in understanding the mechanisms that enhance or alter these processes, with the aim of contributing to the development of therapeutic interventions as well as the creation of preventive or rehabilitation programs.
