Graduated from Universidad ORT Uruguay with a BA in Economics (2008), followed by an MA from Universidad de Montevideo (2016) and a PhD from Indiana University (2022). Professional experience includes roles at the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (2009-2012), focusing on industrial indicators, and at Antel (2012-2016) in the strategic planning division. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Universidad Católica del Uruguay since 2024, while also engaging in financial consulting. Research interests span behavioral and experimental economics, with a focus on coordination under incomplete information. Applies a combination of theoretical models and laboratory experiments to study public goods financing in microeconomics and international currency competition in macroeconomic models of monetary economics.

Research interests

I currently specialize in the areas of Behavioral Economics and Experimental Economics. A unifying theme in my research work is studying coordination between agents when information is incomplete. I have applied this to new mechanisms for financing public goods in microeconomic models and to competition between international currencies in macroeconomic models of monetary economics. For this, I use a combination of theoretical models (game theory and search models) and laboratory experiments. In problems of incomplete information, there are usually multiple possible equilibria, and theory does not tell us which one we will observe in practice. Experiments help us observe how real subjects, faced with the same incentives as the agents in the theoretical model, coordinate among themselves and reach one of the possible equilibria.
