Research interests

I am dedicated to research in the area of Constitutional Law and Human Rights. Especially with regard to the critical monitoring of the jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, Ibero-American tribunals and supreme courts. With regard to constitutional law, the main lines of research refer to the interpretation, application and defense of the Constitution. In the area of human rights, the aim is to follow up on the above-mentioned jurisprudence, with emphasis on guarantees, resolution of cases and controversies.

Personal profile

He is currently the Director of the Law Department at the Catholic University of Uruguay. From 1998 to 2010 he was Dean of the Faculty of Law of that institution, from 2010 to 2018 Director of the Master's Degree in Law with emphasis on constitutional law. He is a level II researcher in the National System of Researchers
