Research interests
His research focuses on the field of materials science and adsorption, with a special emphasis on porous materials for environmental applications. His main lines of research include: 1) valorization of solid waste through hydrothermal carbonization for the generation of solid biofuels and carbonaceous materials, 2) storage of energy vectors (methane and hydrogen) in porous materials using adsorption phenomena and through the formation of gas hydrates, and 3) synthesis of porous materials for the removal of contaminants in liquid and gaseous effluents.
Personal profile
She received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata (Argentina) in 2009, her Master’s degree in Material Science from the University of Alicante (Spain) in 2011, and her Ph.D. degree from the University of Alicante (Spain) in 2015. She has received the prize “Juan de Dios López González” for outstanding Ph.D. thesis in adsorption science from the Real Sociedad Española de Química. Alumni of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation research fellow at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Dresden University of Technology (Germany), in 2016. She joined the Universidad Católica del Uruguay, Montevideo (Uruguay) in 2019 as a postdoctoral fellowship awarded by the National Research and Innovation Agency (ANII). Currently, she is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering of the Universidad Católica del Uruguay, group leader of the Material, Energy, and Environmental Group (GMEM), and a member of the National Research System (SNI-level I).
