Research interests

Her academic production focuses on analyzing central points of Constitutional and Human Rights Law, and their interrelation with other Law areas. Her main lines of research are: (i) the definition and standards of fundamental rights: their content, limits, and tools for analyse those limits; (ii) democracy: its international protection, and its relationship with human rights; (iii) the impact of the jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court on the protection of rights and on the Law of each State; (iv) the application and interpretation of the Constitution and the ACHR, and its influence on other Law areas; and (v) the link between business activity, tax area, and rights protection.

Personal profile

Doctor in Law, Catholic University of Uruguay (UCU) (2011). Postgraduate in Tax Specialization, UCU (2012). She was a Professional Visitor of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (2013). She has a Master's Degree in Constitutional Law (Extraordinary Award) from the University of Seville, Spain (2015), and a PhD (cum laude) from the University of Seville, Spain (2019). She was a research scholar and carried out postdoctoral research stays at the Max Planck Institute, Germany (2022-2023). She is also a graduate of the Master's course in Business and Human Rights from the University of Bergen, Norway (2022), of the Diploma in Legal Management Program from the Catholic University of Valparaíso, Chile (2018), and of other diplomas and courses in the subjects of her specialty. She is a Professor of Constitutional Law, Human Rights and Tax Law at UCU, and has been invited as a Professor by foreign Universities. Is part of the National System of Researchers of Uruguay (since 2019). Since 2022 she has been a consultant of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
