Personal profile

Research interests

Since 2008 I have specialized in the analysis of massive sequencing data. After finishing my Ph.D., based on my interest in developing a line of research in environmental microbiology, I began to get involved in microbial genomics, taking advantage of its potential for industrial applications and the link between the Catholic University and the industry. In this context, I promoted the creation of the Genomics Laboratory of the Catholic University of Uruguay, inaugurated at the end of 2020. My research interests currently focus on the study of the microbial composition of environmental samples, the application of metabarcoding and metagenomics techniques to the study of microbial communities, the analysis of microbial diversity, the development of tools for the analysis of metabarcoding data, and the development of tools for ribosome profiling data analysis.
