Doctor (PhD) in Juridical Sciences from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA 2023). Master in Law with emphasis in Contracts from the Catholic University of Uruguay (UCU 2021), Master in Criminal Procedure Law from the Catholic University of Uruguay (2024), Specialist in Contracts (2019) and Specialist in Fundamentals of Criminal Procedure Law (2024), both from the Catholic University of Uruguay (UCU). Visiting Researcher grant from the Fulbright Uruguay Commission to conduct research in Criminal Procedure Law and Litigation at the University of Michigan, Michigan, United States of America (2022). She completed a postgraduate course to enter the judiciary at the Center for Judicial Studies of Uruguay (2014). She practices as a Criminal Judge in Montevideo having entered the judicial career in 2014. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Magistrates of Uruguay (2022-2024). Professor in Obligations, Civil Liability and Criminal Procedural Law and Litigation in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Catholic University of Uruguay and at the Center for Judicial Studies of Uruguay. Currently, she is a full-time research professor at the Law Department of the Catholic University of Uruguay.
Research interests
Her academic production focuses on two different, well-defined areas of research. On the one hand, she focuses on the area of Civil Law with special emphasis on the Law of Obligations, Civil Liability and Tort Law. Specifically, in this last area of law, she has focused on the analysis of the functions of Tort Law, particularly the preventive and reparatory function, the elements of damage, the extent and settlement of the damage. On the other hand, she has developed active lines of research in the area of Criminal Procedural Law and Adversarial Criminal Litigation. In relation to this last topic, she is especially focused on the areas of discovery, evidence law, constitutional and conventional guarantees during the criminal process, adversarial criminal litigation during preliminary hearings and more recently, the development of the criminal process in the framework of the jury trial model.
