Abstract

Wellbeing is generally understood as a specific state that reports satisfaction to people, so it is desirable. There are elements of that state that are mainly of economic nature and play a major role on the ultimate satisfaction level of individuals, affecting both the observable, objective wellbeing and thus the perceived or subjective one. The objective of this investigation was to identify which characteristics of the economic objective wellbeing have impact on the subjective wellbeing of individuals and whether they change at the regional level. To this end, a qualitative assessment was made with the aim to identify most relevant elements of economic objective wellbeing for the enhancement of subjective wellbeing, inquiring about behaviors and perceptions at regional subnational level in Uruguay. Results show that there are relevant economic characteristics that have impact on happiness or satisfaction levels of individuals and that they vary across regions.
