Abstract
UHF Radio Frequency Identification (RAIN RFID) is a continuously evolving technology with a vast potential in many industries. Despite its possibilities, the complexity of implementing and configuring RFID systems can be an entry barrier for students. This project aims at encouraging the adoption and understanding of RAIN-RFID technology by providing an educational framework based on a flexible RFID portal hardware, and a Python module to control the reader. By providing a Python library (a language which most students program), the project empowers users to experiment and develop custom RFID-based solutions in a reduced time lapse, adequate for a university lab instance. This work presents the developed tool, and a challenge proposed for students to foster their interest and make use of the wide possibilities of the RFID technology.
