By analysyng different ways through which fictional and documentary forms are articulated in recent Uruguayan productions has led us to identify three variants: In one of them the documentary is just inlay in the fictional world; in another one, the documentary genre fulfills informative and educational functions, and, finally, the actual mockumentary form, in which the key feature is that both fictionalization and authentication oscillate and coexist simultaneously. In four cases identified as mockumentaries, both expressive and content features come together in an awkward mood shared by Uruguayan examples of this genre.
